Off-campus database access
All online databases, such as ProQuest, LexisNexis, EbscoHost, and others, are available from off-campus computers for current Medaille students, faculty, and staff. Due to database vendors' licensing agreements, off-campus access to the Library's subscription databases is limited to these groups and requires a MedailleOne user ID and password.
New students at the Main campus must present their Medaille ID card and fill out a registration form in the Library. New Accel students will register at their campus centers. Returning students should advise the Library of any address or phone number changes, either in person or by phone (880-2283 or toll-free 800-292-1582 and ask for the library.)
When accessing any of the library's subscription databases from off-campus, users will first be prompted to enter their:
User Name : enter your MedailleOne userID followed by @medaille.edu
- For example, if your MedailleOne user ID is abc123 enter abc123@medaille.edu
If you experience off-campus access problems, try these steps first:
- Your Internet browser should be set to accept cookies
- Turn off any filtering programs.
- Try closing your browser, and restarting.
- Make sure you are using the most recent version of Firfox or Internet Explorer.
Some organizations and businesses have installed firewalls on their computers, preventing external database access. If you are not able to connect to Medaille's databases from your workplace computer, discuss this issue with your employer.
If you are still experiencing problems, call the Library at 880-2283 or toll-free 800-292-1582 and ask for the library, or send an email to a Medaille librarian. Your message should explain the problem and include any error messages you received and the browser you are using.
